Lost and Found: The Art of Assemblage
with Gary Nusinow
Assemblage is a three-dimensional art form initiated by artists of the early Twentieth Century. In this course, we will use an assortment of materials including found objects to create small-scale three-dimensional works of art. We will focus on the creative process, while we explore the elements of visual art such as composition, scale, proportion, color, hierarchy, and balance. A primary goal is to build confidence in one’s art practice. This is a great opportunity to make creative use of the various and sundry objects you have collected over time. Scavengers absolutely welcome.

Landscape in Soft Pastel
with Laura Milkins
A great class for nature lovers! In this class you will learn different techniques and approaches for making beautiful pastel landscape painting. Pastel is the perfect medium to create a vibrant, colorful landscape image. Step-by-step I’ll walk you through pastel techniques and approaches. The goal is to capture both the feeling, form and colors found in nature. We’ll cover the basics of working with pastels, color theory, and a bit of art history. Each week we’ll work on a different image. We’ll start by looking at inspiring images from art history that demonstrate the techniques. Then I’ll demonstrate that week’s techniques and then you’ll try them out. This class is great for beginners/intermediate, but I'll work with more advanced students to help you hone your skills.

A live 4-week online series that pairs process painting with freewriting in a held, intimate circle — the brush opens the door, and the pen walks through it. Each 3-hour session builds on the last, deepening participants' relationship with their own creative intelligence across the arc of a month. Participants leave each session with something they made, something they wrote, and a growing trust in what arises when they stop trying to get it right.
