Try It! Halloween Decorative Hoops

It's spooky season! Jump right in with an embroidered decorative hoop. For this 3-hour class, we will be creating and executing designs that bring joy to your fall soul while engaging in some basic embroidery techniques!

Drawing Fundamentals I (Oct., Sun.)

In Drawing Fundamentals 1 (DF1), students learn four foundational drawing skills: shape/edge, measurement, light (value) and space (perspective). You will begin to combine these skills into drawings that will surprise you by their accomplishment and banish any fears regarding your ability to observe and draw.
Materials: Materials are not included; please bring the following supply list: · Graphite pencils: HB, 2B, 6B · Vine charcoal, soft · Kneaded eraser · Factis eraser, pen style · White sketch paper pad, approx. 14 x 17" (White drawing pad ok) · Small sketchbook, approx. 6 x 8" (Whatever you may already have is fine) Optional: · White plastic eraser · Gum eraser · Blending stumps or tortillions - Newsprint, approx 16 x 20. This class is for adults. Ready-made kits are available at a discount from Posner's Art Store (944 E. University Blvd). Posner's is offering the kits for $70 (retail $110). Exploring Color I

This class is taught jointly with Ryan Hill.
Color Theory helps create visually appealing and harmonious designs. It guides the use of colors to evoke emotion and communicate messages. Understanding concepts like the color wheel, contrasts, complementary colors, temperature and lightness and darkness of hue ensures effective design. Students will work from life as well as their imagination to sharpen their skills mixing, matching, and telling a story with their use of color.

ZOOM: Intro to Science Illustration

Combine your love of art and science with the practice of scientific illustration in this engaging Zoom/Online class taught by Trenton Jung. You’ll be introduced to essential techniques such as observational drawing, nature journaling, and accurate measurement. Beginning Oil Painting
with Jacqueline Chanda
If you feel intimidated by the thought of painting in oils, this class is for you. You will learn how to approach your painting with more confidence and ease by learning the fundamentals techniques to oil painting; how to organize a palette, how to mix color, how to achieve color harmony, how to create form and manipulate values effectively.
Participation in DF I and DF II highly recommended first.

Workshop! Expressive Abstract Art & Creative Writing

Create a unique image using specific abstract drawing techniques. Following the abstract art creation, follow a series of creating writing activities that will serve to explore the creative process, merging creativity with awareness. The session will complete with art showcasing and an open mic.
