Open Print Lab (8/20)
with Walter F. Allen-Henderson
Open Print Lab is designed to be a creative exploration space! Open Print Lab is where our intergenerational printmakers, with an established practice, meet with others, share work, tips, and life's journeys! Enjoy access to 3 manual roll-top etching/relief presses for your self-directed projects! This studio session is not a regular instructional class, so we recommend beginners start with one of our various printmaking classes.

Figure Drawing for Complete Beginners
with Derys Lyttle
This is a Figure Drawing class with a live model that will focus on beginners who have never drawn from a nude, live model before.
We will use converging shapes to “build” the figure, triangles, ovals, circles , etc, that can give us our first understanding of how to think of three- dimensional form as we learn to draw it on a two-dimensional surface. Beginning this way, without relying on only our outside lines, will help our understanding of what it means to enjoy figure drawing! This will give us an education of form and a keen sense of volume that we can then proceed to add upon to further learn anatomical elements.
Materials not provided. Please bring the following:
18"x24" drawing/sketch pad
9”x12” charcoal pad
kneaded eraser

pencil sharpener
soft vine charcoal

You'll transform forgotten palettes into vibrant, textured canvas paintings — and give new life to something you already own. (We will use pastels for the colors you may not have and base sketch).
